Once upon a time two teenage actresses, a blond and a red-hair, were on Mean Girls together.
One of them was the next It girl of Hollywood, she was the last Disney idol. She was definitely on her way up at the time. The other one was almost a nobody, just a sexy next-door blond actress in a teen movie.

Mean Girls – Lindsay Lohan & Amanda Seyfried
After this movie that we all liked and watched twice time at least, one of them started to build a strong career and be taken seriously. Last year she played on a very big production that ended up awarded. However no nomination for the actress, but she’s young, very young and she has time to prove herself.
The other one, well…the other has proved to everyone that she was a mess a terrible mess, an addict, a looser. She became addicted to scandals, and we’d see her more on the gossip column and on the court walk of shame than on red carpets and movie sets. She became unhirable. During this time she faced two DUIs, six arrests, seven car accidents, 14 days in jail and six trips to rehab. And numerous court attending plus scandalous breakdown that made buzz on the internet.

Two or three years ago the two actresses were at the epitome of their career. One for rising up the other for falling down.
Even if everything seems to seperate our little teen stars, Lilo and Amanda Seyfried, they might have something in common. Both actress are currently in low/middle budget movies with a common subject : PORN ! and the dark side of star system in Hollywood.

The Canyons – Lilo + James Deen
The Canyons gives us an erotic thriller in which the thrills have lost their force, the sex has lost its zest and the actual business of making movies is little more than an annoying distraction. (The Guardian )
The story behind the scenes:
The actual plot of the movie (rich, empty Hollywood types engage in a game of sexual manipulation) is almost secondary to the larger narrative that surrounded its troubled making, a narrative immortalized in many medial text . The New York Time article piece Here Is What Happens When You Cast Lindsay Lohan in Your Movie was first in a long list of torments. This piece turns out talking more about the troubling relationship of the actress and the staff than the movie himself “We’re gonna do a film about the new Lindsay.“It’s gonna be great for you! ” Schrader said to the NYT journalist.
Well, the new Lindsay didn’t show up. The old Lindsay showed up. And the thing about the old Lindsay was that the film was effectively highjacked by her, but it was what it was. Vulture

For the last 18 months I have been a hostage, of my own choosing, to a very talented but unpredictable actress.“ The Canyons director Paul Schrader said at the Venice festival . The pitch: The story of Linda Lovelace, who is used and abused by the porn industry at the behest of her coercive husband, before taking control of her life.
The story behind the scene :
You’ll recall, Lohan was supposed to play Linda Lovelace in a movie called Inferno. I am sure Lilo would’ve made a good very good Linda Lovelace. She is very much lookalike, She has the sex attitude . That film has yet to go into production. Cursed. Which is what happens when you align yourself with Lindsay Lohan. (Laineygossip).
But there were another Lovelace biopic project , Lovelace, with a pretty impressive cast led by Amanda Seyfried, with James Franco (as Hugh Hefner), Chloe Sevigny, Mr Big (a.k.a Christ North), Sharon Stone and Peter Sarsgaard.

Amanda is playing very the genuine girl trapped in this all star machine inferno. BUT Is she more credible than Lohan? I would say no. I’m fairly certain it would have been worth the hell of having her bad self on set. Good as Amanda Seyfried is, she’s too conventionally pretty and demure to capture the blowsiness that is (sadly) natural to Lohan nowadays. Lovelace does a respectable job, but it never goes deep.
